Super Human?

We just watched a show about human anatomy and how it works on Discovery Channel while eating lunch, and i know i have to blog it today!

The show was showing us how humans works, and with a strong emphasis on the brain.
One of the example was a woman, running a 100 odd miles desert marathon. How she managed to overcome pain, exhaustion and heat with her brain.

Mind over body.

Throughout the race, her husband was always by her side, either in the car following behind or jogging/walking next to her, constantly supporting her, and saying, "Pain tells u that u r alive, thats good."

That actually reminds me of my army days where our instructors will give us "unreasonable punishments" (which is actually helping us to train our endurance) and to shout at us, " Pain is good!" "Pain is temporary! Life is forever!" "Pain means u r still alive!". All these sounds horrible but it is these sessions that made us a stronger person, physically and mentally.

In that show i also saw similarities in that lady and us during our training days.
After running/walking for 12 hrs, she was faced with exhaustion, fatigue, hunger, depressions and most of all pain. Under such circumstances she was still able to carry on for another 28hrs to complete the race. How did she do that?

Just like us during our route marches and mission days.. we had this mentality, we have to win over our mind (brain), ignoring whatever its been telling us, ignoring the pain and fatigue, and tell ourselves, "just a little bit more!" "We are just a little bit more to finishing the march/mission! Hang on there!" - Its purely mind over body!

That is the main thing i want to share with all DnA blog readers.

Concluding the show, the host said this:
"Its not what is inside us that counts. Its how we use what is inside us that counts!"
So dear readers, pls rem that....
