Citronella Oil - Test 'n' Tried... Verdict?

Verdict: Pass - Citronella is an effective insect repellent!

Location: Singapore
Issues of concern: Mosquito bites, insect bites.... deadly dengue!

Whenever I enter into the beautiful Singapore..... *bite* Oh no, another bite!... Not too sure why I always seem to be the target of mosquitoes etc... maybe it's cos of my "fresh" blood - so sweet and juicy and foreign!?!?? I still remember when I had so many bites that both my legs were so swollen that they looked as tho I had elephant legs! It was so painful that I had to go to the Drs.

Well, on this trip I stocked up with DEET body sprays and lotions which I had to re-apply every 8 hours and then re-apply after each time I touched water... what a pain to be honest! Considering its boiling here and I take more than two showers... Also, DEET stinks and when huppy wanted to kiss me - he would complain of tasting it! No no, this cant do!!!

One day I came across a citronella oil bracelet.... It suddenly occured to me... I reccommend it at work to customers - citronella oil is a natural, non-toxic alternative to chemical insect repellents - but yet, I do not use it myself!!! The problem was that I was hesistant.. *Will it work?!* It was much cheaper than the DEET products - so why not!

Well, the one I bought was a trendy bracelet which gave off the citronella aroma... the aroma is supposed to repel the insects... I was so impressed that I havent had a bite - that Ive done my own website to share it with people!!! Here it is:
http://citronella-oil.blogspot.com

The first 2 days I arrived, I had two bites... since Ive been wearing this citronella oil bracelet (for about 3 weeks), Ive had NO bites!! I now go EVERYWHERE with it... the only thing its not allowed to touch is water... But hey who's complaining when it does its job and huppy doesnt run away!!! So why not try it for yourself.... Happy testing (",)

Super Human?

We just watched a show about human anatomy and how it works on Discovery Channel while eating lunch, and i know i have to blog it today!

The show was showing us how humans works, and with a strong emphasis on the brain.
One of the example was a woman, running a 100 odd miles desert marathon. How she managed to overcome pain, exhaustion and heat with her brain.

Mind over body.

Throughout the race, her husband was always by her side, either in the car following behind or jogging/walking next to her, constantly supporting her, and saying, "Pain tells u that u r alive, thats good."

That actually reminds me of my army days where our instructors will give us "unreasonable punishments" (which is actually helping us to train our endurance) and to shout at us, " Pain is good!" "Pain is temporary! Life is forever!" "Pain means u r still alive!". All these sounds horrible but it is these sessions that made us a stronger person, physically and mentally.

In that show i also saw similarities in that lady and us during our training days.
After running/walking for 12 hrs, she was faced with exhaustion, fatigue, hunger, depressions and most of all pain. Under such circumstances she was still able to carry on for another 28hrs to complete the race. How did she do that?

Just like us during our route marches and mission days.. we had this mentality, we have to win over our mind (brain), ignoring whatever its been telling us, ignoring the pain and fatigue, and tell ourselves, "just a little bit more!" "We are just a little bit more to finishing the march/mission! Hang on there!" - Its purely mind over body!

That is the main thing i want to share with all DnA blog readers.

Concluding the show, the host said this:
"Its not what is inside us that counts. Its how we use what is inside us that counts!"
So dear readers, pls rem that....
